Papu Can't Dance Sala!

I, Desai want to create my own website, but I'm confused when it come to web-hosting. In order to reduce cost, I want to do web-hosting on my own. However I have no clue where to start from in ununtu 10.4 server edition computer.

After the web-hosting is done, then I want to know if it is possible for me to create my own custom email address. for example my website is www.example.com and i want to have my email address to be desai@example.com How, do i do that or is that possible?

I might switch the web-hosting to Mac OS X Snow Leopard, if you think that will be easy. Please do guide me.
