I have a 500gb hdd that has previously had windows 7 (it still has all the windows files on it, but it is no longer bootable), but right now im using a 120gb hdd running Vista.
Every time i access the 500gb for storage it says i need permission to continue, and i have to press ok to continue. I can still use the drive but things seem slow, and every time i open a folder i have to confirm that i am an administrator. And programs like download managers cannot save directly to the drive etc.
I want to, in effect, format the drive, but there is one folder that i dont want to delete.
it is my "downloads" folder (on the root of the drive) and has over 400gb of stuff that i do not want to delete. (i just want to delete the windows crap, and remove the limitations)
thanks for any help
@Penrules, why did you waste your time commenting. useless people like you should just get off the internet.

@SangWooPark, thanks but no thanks.
@LoverOfWine, Will try that again, but when I tried before, some folders' permissions could not be changed.
