Default Text & Other Files on Your Pocket PC

There are many programs on your Pocket PC that can open files created on your desktop. Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Reader for Pocket PC all open files created on a desktop or laptop PC. In order for your text or other files to show up in these programs and be available for use, they must be in the "My Documents" directory of your Pocket PC's RAM.

If you have a storage card, such as a CompactFlash or MMC, you can also store files on them. In File Explorer, go to your "Storage Card" folder.

Once you're in the "Storage Card" folder, hold your stylus down for two seconds and select "New Folder" from the menu.

Name the new folder "My Documents". Now you have a "My Documents" folder on your storage card and can store music and video files there that will show up in Media Player.

Now, in either of your "My Documents" folders, you can create sub folders to help you keep your files straight. Create a "Word" folder for your Word documents and a "PDF Reader" folder for Adobe files.

Note: Other programs, such as Microsoft Reader, can only "see" the files they use if they are stored in the "My Documents" folder. If you've transferred a file to your Pocket PC that you can't find in a particular program, try moving it to the "My Documents" folder.
