Default My display/graphics card was disabled (Windows XP)?

I started up my computer like normal (Windows XP), i couldn't run any of my games, my screen resolution went from 1280x1024 to 800x600 (which i fixed already) My device manager shows my graphics card (ATI Radeon 9600/9550/X1050) as disabled (with a big red x on primary and secondary graphics cards) i right click and press "Enable" and now it's a yellow exclamation point instead of a red x. i try to update my drivers, the installations fail (no errors were given, it simply says "Installation could not be completed") and i tried downloading the drivers manually. they also failed during installation.. one of them said "Please run a Standard VGA driver before installation"

but... i'm pretty lost already. what do i do?
